This is the Club Med of missions trips... we have wireless internet as well as AC in each of our bedrooms.
I'm feeling much better today... well enough to join the team for a trip to the beach. So I will post some photos that I meant to do yesterday before I became ill.
Since the compound is completely enclosed, our girls can go outside on their own a bit. Here is Lillian with her breakfast of bread, heading down the stairs to the waiting area and chapel where our Sunday began with a chapel service lead by Danny Castro, Ruth's husband who is the spiritual director of CURE Honduras.
This is the entrance and waiting area for the clinic. Thirty children and their families were waiting for us by 7am. Clinic began after chapel service. The plants around the hospital grounds were donated and planted by a former patient's mother.
After some initial shyness, Abigail made friends with some girls-- picking flowers, drawing with sidewalk chalk, and playing ball. It's amazing how you can play with someone with whom you cannot converse.
Lillian, of course, makes friends wherever she goes without effort.
All thirty patients and their families were ready to go at 7am-- and willing to wait as long as needed for their consultation (which was sometimes hours). They wait in this open air area ventilated by fans. You can see a playhouse on the far left. The charge for a clinic visit is $2.50.
Lillian enjoyed dancing and singing while standing on the waiting room chairs-- and then directing her new friend to do the same.
This is the door to the clinic which is air conditioned.
